I had my gestational diabetes class yesterday. I have to chart what I eat and check my blood sugar 4 times a day. From there we will figure out what I have to do, hopefully it will just be a change of diet.

Its going to drive me nuts. We ate at 6:30 last night so I had to check at 8:30. My number was high. (Supposed to be less than 120 and I was 161) I spent the next hour and a half reading all my stuff and going "Maybe I should test again...I did eat some of Alikahs food after...am I supposed to check 2 hours from when I start eating or when I stop?? Should I do it again? I snack all day...does it need to be 2 hours of eating NOTHING? SPENCER SHOULD I DO IT AGAIN??!"

I didnt check again,
we did check Spencer though haha. He was 86 or something.
I was pissed. But he had a couple beers so I decided he doesnt count anyways.

  1. Hey Lindsay(it's Melodie) when I had gestational diabetes I usually tested 2 hours after I finished eating. I don't know how much you like carrots, but that's what I snacked on constantly during. Mine was controlled by diet & I had to test 4xs a day up until the day I went into labor. We checked Kirk's too for fun and his was always normal too lol. I had a few days where mine was high after dinner. It was usually after I had potatoes(my fav.) so I pretty much cut them out of my diet until Brendan was born. The thing that helped me most was just really waking up at the same time every day, eating meals at the same time every day, and going to bed at night at the same time. It's hard, but it's only for a couple months and you can do it. I wish I had my little journal thing that I recorded my tests in because I always wrote little notes that my doctor laughed at. I know one day it was high after lunch and I wrote "had too big of an apple" and my doctor laughed so hard at that lol. Well I hope that yours goes as easily as mine went and you just have to watch your diet. I would honestly have to say the hardest part of it for me was constantly having to stab myself. Even at the end I always had butterflies when I would have to check it lol. That and remembering to take it before I got out of bed in the morning. Love you & good luck. =]

  2. Thanks!! I dont think Id be able to wake up and go to sleep at the same time everyday but I think Im gonna try to eat at the same times...that seems like a good idea. They gave me sheets and charts to record my numbers and food and I know already that its really going to help to have them.
Lol I dont mind the stabbing part at all, I cant even really feel it. Its just annoying to have to constantly keep track of time. But like you said, its only a few months.
All my numbers were fine yesterday, so thats a good start. Love you too
